Group knocks El-Rufai over Peter Obi comment

Kaduna State Governor, Nasir el-Rufai

A group operating under the banner of Great Nigeria 4 Obi-Datti has slammed the Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, for alleging that the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, ordered his arrest while he was governor of Anambra State.

The group’s spokesperson, Mr. Tony Chukwuelue, and other members, including Mike Okaka and Johnny Obika, unanimously claimed that nothing of the such had happened while speaking to journalists in Awka on Thursday.

By reportedly engaging in polarizing politics, the group charged El-Rufai of stoking the flames of unrest with the intention of escalating the level of insecurity in the nation.

They urged the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (ret. ), to swiftly proclaim a state of emergency in Kaduna State in response to the ongoing loss of innocent life and senseless killings that have seemed to become the norm over the past seven and a half years.

Chukwuelue said, “First, El-Rufai denied Obi supporters the use of public facilities for their one million march. He has since gone on a full verbal rampage against Peter Obi.

“In civilised nation, El-Rufai would have voluntarily tendered a letter of resignation of office as governor, having recorded the unbeatable record in Nigeria and the world of presiding over the affairs of the unsafest state where one cannot travel by road, by train, or by air.

“He was also the inventor of the disturbing Muslim-Muslim ticket as he broods no sensitivity towards the feelings of his subjects. In Kaduna today, kidnapping and killings have remained the norm rather than an exception.”
