A socio-political group in Ondo State, The Progressives, has extended congratulations to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa on his victory in the November 16, 2024, governorship election. The group has also urged him to prioritize those who played a significant role in his re-election when making appointments for his second term.
In a statement made in Akure, the state capital, on Monday, Chief Kehinde Ogungbade, president of The Progressives, called on Governor Aiyedatiwa to ensure that the individuals who worked relentlessly for his victory are first considered for key positions in his administration. Ogungbade emphasized that these supporters, whom he referred to as “major stakeholders,” deserve to be rewarded for their dedication and hard work during the election campaign.
The group reminded the governor of the tireless efforts of the campaigners, who worked both day and night, incurring personal expenses and investing time, resources, and energy to secure his re-election. They stressed that some even risked their lives in their efforts to ensure the APC’s victory, particularly in the face of intense political competition.
Ogungbade further urged the governor to give priority to these leaders and supporters from all 18 local government areas of the state in his upcoming appointments, ensuring that those who contributed the most to the election’s success are duly recognized.
The Progressives also praised Governor Aiyedatiwa and the Ondo State chapter of the APC for their victory, noting that the outcome was a testament to the unity, hard work, and leadership displayed by the party and its leaders. The group commended the party’s commitment to a successful election campaign, which ultimately led to their triumph at the polls.
“Major stakeholders who laboured day and night for his return to the Alagbaka Government House, before and during the election.
“First of all consider those leaders and supporters who worked for the success of the election in the 18 local government areas of Ondo State for appointments before considering others,” Ogungbade said.
