A group, the Nigerian Youths in Politics, has expressed the by the Nigerian Bar Association, to immediately sanction the Kano State Attorney General, Haruna Dederi, for alleging that the Appeal Court justices that delivered judgment on the state’s governorship election, were compromised.
The National President of the group, Magaji Alidu, made this known while addressing a press conference in Abuja on Sunday.
According to Alidu, the sanction became imperative to retain the integrity of the legal profession in the country.
“The Attorney General of Kano State who is a lawyer also joined in the bastardisation of the image of the Honourable Justices who delivered judgment of the Kano State governorship appeal.
“Such action is highly unprofessional and requires immediate sanction by the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), to retain the integrity of the legal profession.
“The negative campaign being championed by the NNPP and Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State should be stopped,” he said.
The group however warned political actors, especially those who are pretentious about the stand of the law because it did not favour them, that the judiciary is a sacred institution that must not be undermined.
“The Supreme Court is their target, they are castigating the Appeal Court Justices to blackmail the Honourable Justices of the Supreme Court to subvert justice. Democracy has come of age and the judiciary is not cash and carried as the Attorney General of Kano State portrays,” Alidu added.
