Vice President Kashim Shettima has praised President Bola Tinubu for his leadership, stating that history will remember him as the leader who confronted Nigeria’s most complex challenges head-on.
Shettima made these remarks at a special Iftar held in honor of President Tinubu’s birthday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Saturday night.
Shettima commended the President for making bold decisions and taking on issues that previous administrations had avoided. He highlighted Tinubu’s efforts in addressing long-standing national challenges, such as fuel subsidy fraud, foreign exchange instability, and the suppression of local government autonomy.
“These were thorny issues that many before him sidestepped. But Asiwaju did not sidestep history; he came to rewrite it,” Shettima stated. He added that President Tinubu is tackling “bullets” that past leaders “simply lacked the courage to face,” emphasizing that true leadership involves making tough choices for the betterment of the nation.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio also joined in paying tribute to Tinubu, highlighting his capacity for forgiveness and dedication to national development. Akpabio described the President as a “leader who thinks outside the box” and praised his administration for significantly increasing allocations to governors.
“If I were a governor under your administration, I would have been a ‘supernatural governor’ and not just an uncommon governor,” Akpabio remarked.
Other political leaders also participated in the celebration, recognizing President Tinubu’s role in reshaping Nigeria’s governance and economic policies.
