The Independent National Electoral Commission stated that it has built a Logistics Management System that employs an android application and web dashboard to track the procurement, storage, and delivery of election supplies.
This was disclosed by INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, in Chatham House, on Tuesday in London.
He stated that logistics has been a barrier for INEC, but he is committed to overcome the difficulty.
He added that even if logistics remain difficult, INEC is now better prepared because to the introduction of a technological system to track delicate goods like ballots and result forms.
“Logistics has often been a major Achilles heel of elections in Nigeria. We are determined to solve the challenge.
“We have established a Logistics Management System, which uses an android application and web dashboard to track election materials from procurement through storage to delivery,” he said.
He also mentioned that INEC had established a logistic framework, which would be the first time an end-to-end system had been established.
“For the first time, we have a comprehensive Election Logistics Framework to guide logistics for the general elections from planning, through deployment to retrieval.
“This is the first deployment of an end-to-end logistics framework for elections,” he said.
