The governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike has doused the speculation that he has decamped to the APC.

Nyesom Wike made this known when he appeared in the BBC Pidgin interview. In the interview, Wike stated that he has not left PDP, but only supported the southern Presidency which led to the emergence of president-electoral Tinubu.

“Wetin I support na Southern President,” Wike said in the BBC Pidgin interview.

When asked if he is still in the PDP, he maintained that he is still a member of the PDP and has no intention of leaving. He stated that APC has cancer, hence, he won’t be joining the party.

“Na me and my friends be the people wey dey PDP, others na wayo people,” he said.

Nyesom Wike and four other PDP governors in the buildup of the 2023 elections formed a group known as the G5 which wasn’t in support of PDP’s Atiku Abubakar’s presidential ambition and allegedly worked for the success of APC’s Bola Tinubu.
