The Peoples Democratic Party candidate in the Imo State governorship election, Samuel Anyanwu, has described the Appeal Court judgment affirming Hope Uzodimma’s declaration as governor as a mere distraction.
Anyanwu, on Tuesday, expressed confidence that he will reclaim his stolen mandate at the Supreme Court, urging his supporters to remain calm.
He stated that his legal team will review and study the judgment before taking the necessary steps, according to TheNation.
Anyanwu expressed faith in the Judiciary, believing that there are still individuals with conscience and integrity who will rectify the mistakes of lower courts and deliver justice.
Despite the setback, Anyanwu assured his supporters that he will relentlessly pursue his mandate, urging them to remain hopeful and calm.
He expressed optimism that the Supreme Court will ultimately vindicate him and restore his victory.
He said: “This judgment of the Appeal Court today is nothing but a tactical means to delay justice. We shall not allow them to succeed. Our legal team will take time to review and study the judgment, and thereafter, do the needful. The only assurance to our supporters across Imo state and Nigeria in general is that, we shall laugh last.
“While we shall not lose hope in the Judiciary despite this judgment legalizing illegality, we are still confident that our Judiciary still possesses people of conscience and unsoiled image who will look at the mistakes of the lower courts and do justice where necessary.”
