The Candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Yobe South Senatorial District, Senator Ibrahim Mohammed Bomai, has been declared the winner of the election.
Declaring him a winner in Potiskum on Saturday, The State Returning Officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Dr. Abatcha Melemi of the Federal University of Gashua, declared that Sen. Ibrahim Bomai of the APC, won the election with a score of 69, 596 votes, to defeat his closest rival from the Peoples Democratic Party, Mr. Halilu Mazagane, who polled 68, 885 votes, thereby declared Senator-elect, for Yobe South.
Other candidates, who contested with him, were Yerima Adamu of ADC, who scored 652 votes, and Jauro Ishaku of LP, who also scored 471 votes.
According to him, The Candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party, Isa Musa polled 3,277 votes while Maisambo Barde of YPP scored 448 votes.
“I, Abatcha Melemi, the returning officer for the 2023 Yobe South senatorial district election, held on April 15, declares that Bomai Ibrahim Mohammed of the APC having satisfied the requirements of the law, is hereby declared as the winner and is returned elected,” he said.
Reacting to his shortly, after being declared the Senator-elect, Bomai expressed his profound gratitude to Almighty Allah for the victory.
“We are overwhelmed and filled with joy for the resilience and tenacity shown by the multitude of our good people of Yobe South in giving me a second mandate.
“This victory has further emboldened and made me more resolute in my commitment to bringing more people’s oriented projects and programs.
“As well as completing the ones we started in improving the lives of the common man in Yobe South,” he said.
The February 25 governorship election in the state, was declared inconclusive, following the cancellation of results of the Polling Unit 003 in Manawaci, Fika Local Governmental Area of the state.
