INEC to deploy 5,000 BVAS devices for Edo governorship election

The Independent National Electoral Commission is set to deploy over 5,000 Bimodal Voter Accreditation Systems and other sensitive materials for the Edo State governorship election on Saturday.

Sensitive materials, including ballot papers and result sheets, arrived in Edo State on Wednesday and were transported to secure storage facilities under tight security.

The deployment of BVAS devices and other materials is part of INEC’s preparations for a smooth and efficient electoral process across the state’s 4,519 polling units and 211 collation centres.

INEC officials and security personnel supervised the transportation of the election materials to ensure accountability.

The commission has increased financial support to transport unions for election logistics.

The 17 participating political parties are expected to conclude their campaigns today.

Leading contenders include Senator Monday Okpebholo (APC), Asue Ighodalo (PDP), and Olumide Akpata (Labour Party).

Edo State residents will head to the polls on Saturday to choose their next governor.
