Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, on Thursday, urged the National Assembly to push for the immediate removal of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.).
Falana made the call in a Channels Television’s interview on Thursday, following the demand by Peoples Democratic Party’s Senators that the President be impeached over the worsening insecurity in the country.
According to him, the nation’s security architecture is on a slippery slope and things might get worse before the expiry of the six-week ultimatum issued by the protesting senators.
“The ultimatum is not realistic, I thought a seven-day ultimatum would have been more realistic, things may get worse before that, Buhari should be removed as soon as possible,” Falana stated.
He also explained that the move to impeach Buhari should not be seen as an embarrassment as the country is in urgent need of immediate intervention.
