Kaduna CAN vows to pray for gov Sani’s success

The Christian Association of Nigeria in Kaduna State has assured Governor Uba Sani of their unwavering prayers for his success, praising his inclusive leadership and efforts to foster a sense of belonging among Christians.

The assurance was given by the Chairman of the Kaduna State chapter of CAN, Rev. Caleb Ma’aji, during an Iftar dinner hosted by Governor Sani for Christian clergy and senior leaders at Sir Kashim Ibrahim House on Sunday.

Rev. Ma’aji expressed his appreciation for the Governor’s leadership, noting that “The difference between this administration and the last one is clear,” and highlighting how Governor Sani’s approach to governance has given hope to Christians in the state. “This has given hope to Christians in Kaduna State,” he added.

He further pledged, “Your leadership has become our prayer point. We will never stop praying for you until your good becomes better and your better becomes the best.” Reflecting on the Governor’s consistent support for the Christian community, Rev. Ma’aji recalled that Governor Sani had attended the 2023 Christmas Carol in the state and promised to return in subsequent years. “Last year, he fulfilled his promise as he attended the Christmas Carol for the second time. You showed us love and even supported us. We thank you very much,” he said.

Rev. Ma’aji also shared that the Governor had expressed his intention to be more involved in future events, stating that next year’s Christmas Carol “will be his own because he wants to eat rice and drink Fanta with his people.”

In his remarks, Rev. Joseph John Hayab, Chairman of CAN in the 19 Northern States and the Federal Capital Territory, offered a prayer for the Governor’s continued success, stating, “May God keep us alive to reciprocate the Governor’s kind gestures.” He also praised the Governor for changing the narrative in Kaduna through his policies of inclusivity, promising to “sensitize our people not to be confused when the time comes.”

Governor Uba Sani thanked the Christian leaders for attending the Iftar dinner, emphasizing that his administration’s goal is to restore the lost glory of Kaduna State. He shared that his consultations with various stakeholders upon taking office revealed a shared dissatisfaction with the ongoing challenges, and it was clear that the solution lay in governance based on justice, fairness, and equity.

The Governor reiterated his commitment to fairness and equity, stating that his administration is working to ensure that all parts of the state benefit from developmental projects. “My administration is executing developmental projects in all 23 local government areas of Kaduna State, not just in areas where I was voted. Road projects are ongoing, some have been completed. I have built schools across the state. I have rehabilitated hospitals in all three senatorial districts,” he added.

Governor Sani concluded by reaffirming his determination to make Kaduna a model of peaceful coexistence, considering its unique role as the political and religious capital of Northern Nigeria.
