The Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission has reaffirmed that the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress is still under prosecution for allegations of bribery, misappropriation, and diversion of public funds.
In an interview with Channels Television, PCACC Chairman Muhuyi Rimingado confirmed his dedication to continuing the legal proceedings against the former Kano State governor, despite challenges he has faced during the investigation.
Rimingado detailed the difficulties he has encountered since the investigation began in 2021, including his removal from office, arrest, detention, assault, and public humiliation.
He emphasized that, despite these obstacles, he remains committed to pursuing the case and asserted that his actions are not aimed at witch-hunting anyone.
The Kano State High Court has scheduled a hearing on the preliminary objections in the case for February 13, 2025.
The case involves an eight-count charge against the former governor, including bribery, misappropriation, and the diversion of billions of Naira in public funds.
Alongside the former governor, his wife, Hafsat Umar, and several others, including Abubakar Bawuro, Umar Abdullahi Umar, Jibrilla Muhammad, and companies such as Lamash Properties Limited, Safari Textiles Limited, and Lasage General Enterprises Limited, are also named as defendants in the case.
“When I came back, I continued from where I stopped. So, I am not witch-hunting anybody,” Rimingado added.
