The Kano State Government has officially implemented the new ₦71,000 minimum wage for its workers, marking a significant move to enhance the welfare of state employees.
True to its established tradition, the state began paying the November salaries of workers by the 25th of the month, incorporating the approved increase.
The Head of Civil Service in Kano, Alhaji Abdullahi Musa, confirmed the development and highlighted that the government has also begun paying overdue allowances to health workers. In a statement issued by the Director of Public Enlightenment, Aliyu Yusuf, Musa expressed his gratitude, thanking Allah for enabling Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje to fulfill his promise.
“Since the governor announced the salary increase, I remained optimistic that his words would be matched with action,” Musa said, expressing satisfaction with the timely implementation. He also encouraged civil servants to reciprocate the government’s generosity by rededicating themselves to their duties and working diligently to ensure effective and efficient service delivery.
Musa further emphasized that the government remains committed to improving the welfare of its workforce. He advised workers to utilize the salary increment wisely, aiming to improve their living standards while avoiding unnecessary expenditures.
