Governor of Kano State Abba Kabir Yusuf announced on Wednesday the approval of the second batch of gratuity payments for retired civil servants in the state.
The governor’s commitment to addressing the welfare of pensioners is evident in the earmarking of a substantial sum of five billion naira for this phase of payments.
This announcement comes as part of Governor Yusuf’s ongoing efforts to settle outstanding gratuities, following a previous disbursement where 6 billion naira was allocated to cover the gratuities and death benefits of 5,500 retirees.
The governor’s office has yet to release details on the criteria for the second batch of payments or the exact number of beneficiaries. However, the administration’s commitment to transparency and efficiency in the settlement of these gratuities is clear.
Taking to his X handle on Wednesday, the governor wrote, “I have approved the commencement of 2nd batch payment of outstanding gratuity to pensioners in our state.
“The sum of 5 billion naira has been earmarked for this batch of payments.”
