A meeting between National Security Adviser, Malam Nuhu Ribadu, and Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has ended without a clear resolution to the crisis over the Kano Emirate stool.
The meeting, held on Thursday, aimed to address the dispute between Muhammadu Sanusi II and Aminu Ado Bayero, but the outcome remains undisclosed.
Recall that the Kano State government had abolished four emirate councils and appointed Sanusi as Emir, sparking a legal battle with conflicting court orders.
The state government initially accused Ribadu of involvement in Bayero’s return, but later blamed the All Progressives Congress and former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje.
The meeting between Ribadu and Governor Yusuf, whose office released a statement and photos, did not yield a clear outcome.
The NSA’s spokesman, Zakari Mijinyawa, described it as a closed meeting, while the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature, only mentioned discussions on state and national development, as well as peaceful coexistence.
The crisis continues, with no clear pathway to resolution, as the legal battle and political tensions persist.
Recognizing the respected professional background and integrity of the NSA throughout his time as an Officer and Anti-corruption campaigner, the state deemed it necessary to retract the allegation and offer a sincere apology.
In harmony with these events, the Governor’s meeting with the NSA coincided with Emir of Kano Muhammadu Sanusi II’s six-day stay at the Kano palace, where a significant majority of district heads and kingmakers already pledged their allegiance and loyalty to the newly consolidated Kano Emirate under the leadership of the 16th Emir.
“It was a fruitful discussion between myself and the National Security Adviser, his role is critical for the harmonious existence of our nation, so I briefed him on the recent developments in Kano,” the statement quoted the governor to have stated.
The governor further urged the residents to continue their regular activities in compliance with the rule of law and assured them of peace and tranquility.
The governor failed to make any headway in his meeting with Ribadu as there new legal and political developments that have further complicated issues, according to Leadership.
Added to the legal tussle, is the refusal of the other Emirs and Emirate councils that had been abolished just over a week ago to quietly accept their fate.
