The Kano State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal will on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, give a verdict on the suit filed against Governor Abba Yusuf of the New Nigerian Peoples Party, by the All Progressives Congress, and its candidate, Nasir Gawuna.

It would be recalled that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of the New Nigeria People’s Party was declared the winner of the March 18 governorship election in the state.

However, the APC and Gawuna had approached the tribunal with a suit, seeking to disqualify Yusuf as the winner of the election

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the three-man panel, Justice Oluyemi Akintan-Osadebay, had said the judgement would come earlier than the 180 days allowed by the law.

The adjournment followed the final addresses by both the petitioners and respondents in the petitions.

The APC had however, while making a final address to the court, prayed the tribunal to uphold its petition and return its governorship candidate as the winner of the election, having submitted every necessary evidence, to defend its case.

Meanwhile, the respondents in the petition, INEC, NNPP and Governor Yusuf also urged the tribunal to dismiss the petition filed by the APC and its candidate, Gawuna.
