The Kebbi State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress has suspended the Special Adviser to the Governor, Alhaji Kabir Sani Giant, for his actions that the party deemed inappropriate and damaging to its reputation.
A letter, dated February 28, 2025, and signed by Saidu Moh’d Kimba, the State Secretary of the party, on behalf of the State Chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Muhammad Kana-Zuru, confirmed the suspension.
According to the letter, Giant’s conduct on February 8, 2025, led to his suspension. The party explained that Giant brought a live snake to the Kebbi State Government House, which caused significant apprehension among dignitaries and government officials present at the time.
The letter stated, “We are writing to inform you that, the State Working Committee (SWC) has decided to suspend you from the party, effective immediately pending further investigation and disciplinary action due to your conduct which is likely to embarrass, disrepute and ridicule the party which you have admitted before the investigation Committee.”
It continued, “The specific conduct that led to your suspension was that, on the 8th Day of February 2025, you came to the Kebbi State Government House with a snake intimidating important dignitaries, Statesmen and Government Officials that were deemed offensive, embarrassing and a ridicule to the party, contrary to Article 21 (2) (ii) of the Constitution of All Progressives Congress (2022 as Amended).”
The APC further warned Giant, “Please be aware that any further activity of this nature during the pendency of your suspension may lead to more severe disciplinary action, up to and including expulsion from the party.”
In a related development, Kebbi State Governor Dr. Nasir Idris commended the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, expressing support for the direction in which the president is steering the country.
Idris made these remarks after an APC stakeholders meeting in Birnin Kebbi, which was attended by notable figures including former Governors Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu and Alhaji Saadu Nasamu Dakingari, former Deputy Governor Colonel (rtd) Samaila Yombe Dabai, and other key party stakeholders.
The Governor emphasized that the APC in Kebbi State remains fully behind President Tinubu’s administration, further stating, “The APC have agreed to always hold these meetings regularly and we have passed a vote of confidence on the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for governing the country. We stress that the state APC is solidly behind his administration.”
