The Kogi State Social Democratic Party governorship candidate, Murtala Yakubu Ajaka, has expressed confidence in the Supreme Court even as it reserved judgment in the highly anticipated legal battle for the governorship seat of Kogi State against Ahmed Usman Ododo of the All Progressives Congress.
Ajaka expressed confidence in a favourable outcome, saying: “We have presented a strong case before the Supreme Court, and we are confident that justice will prevail. The people of Kogi State deserve a leader who is chosen through a free, fair, and transparent election, and we believe that our case will vindicate the will of the people.”
He added: “We have faith in the integrity of the Supreme Court, and we believe that they will serve justice. I also urge all my supporters to remain patient and peaceful as we await the court’s decision.”
Ajaka emphasized: “Let us remember that our struggle is not just about this election but about ensuring that our democracy is built on a solid foundation of fairness and transparency.”
The legal dispute arose after the Independent National Electoral Commission declared Ododo the winner of the election, which Ajaka contested, citing electoral fraud and irregularities in the use of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System and discrepancies in the final vote tally.
The Supreme Court is expected to deliver a definitive judgment on the case soon.
