Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, has advised the Peoples Democratic Party Kogi State off-season governorship candidate, Dino Melaye, to visit “tennis” court if he persists on challenging the outcome of the poll at the court.
Recall that Melaye came a distant third behind the winner of the Kogi State off-cycle poll, APC’s Usman Ododo and Murtala Ajaka of the SDP.
Senator Sani took to X, former Twitter to air his view on Thursday.
The former Kaduna Central Senator applauded Melaye on his resolve not to challenge the outcome of the election.
He, however, suggested that if Melaye would later want to seek a redress at the judiciary, he should rather visit a “Tennis” court.
He wrote, “I’m in support of Dino not to go to Court; if he must, he should just go to that of Tennis.”
Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission officially announced APC’s Ododo as the winner.
On Wednesday, November 29, Senator Melaye asserted that the judiciary is no longer impartial but has become a segment of the APC.
On why he would not approach the tribunal, Melaye said he will not dignify a “captured judiciary by filing a petition over Kogi Governorship election where majority of the results were written before the election day by INEC officials under the watch of Professor Mahmood Yakubu who has now earned the unenviable position of the most incompetent person to preside over the Election Management Body in Nigeria.
“Why should any reasonable Nigerian go to the tribunal when the Judiciary has been captured and members of a Political Party openly dare the would-be victims of their infernal rigging machine to go to court.”
