Kwankwaso still in NNPP, says legal adviser

Kwankwaso still in NNPP, says legal adviser

In a recent statement, the National Legal Adviser of the New Nigeria Peoples, Robert Hon, reiterated that the party’s Board of Trustees does not possess the constitutional authority to suspend the Presidential candidate of the party, Rabiu Kwankwaso.

He elucidated that the sole authoritative entity capable of suspending Kwankwaso is the National Executive Committee, which is obligated to adhere to proper procedural protocols.

To a certain degree, he characterised the alleged suspension of Kwankwaso as a product of imagination, originating from a non-existent Board of Trustees that has already been disbanded.

“Kwankwaso has been and is still a Bona fide card-carrying member of the New Nigeria Peoples Party. Any faction, claiming to have suspended him is illegal, as BoT is simply an advisory organ and lacks the constitutional power to suspend or expel any member of the party,” Hon said.

Hon said that the party had an emergency meeting in Abuja, and that at the end of it, Kwankwaso was given a vote of confidence by the party’s stakeholders in all 37 states and the federal capital.

“Board of Trustees, are mere Advisers and lack any power suspend or sack any member, as only the NEC is vested with the power to suspend sack,” he said.

He further said that Senators, Governors, and other party stakeholders from all 37 states and Abuja had recently finished a meeting at which they unanimously voted to support Kwankwaso.
