A prominent member of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, Buba Galadima, has categorically denied rumors that the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, would consider serving as a running mate to the former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
Galadima, a close associate of Kwankwaso, clarified this stance in response to misleading reports stemming from a recent interview with Kwankwaso.
Galadima expressed disappointment with certain media outlets for misinterpreting Kwankwaso’s position on potentially becoming Obi’s running mate. He emphasized that Kwankwaso has never considered, nor will consider, this option for the 2027 presidential election.
Instead, Kwankwaso is fully prepared to assume the presidency in 2027, armed with the necessary political acumen and intellectual capability to tackle Nigeria’s challenges.
During the interview, Kwankwaso highlighted his impressive political and intellectual credentials, which Galadima believes give him a significant edge over politicians like Obi.
Galadima suggested that Obi should consider joining the Kwankwasiyya Movement to help liberate Nigeria from ineffective leadership.
According to PM News, Galadima stated, “The NNPP presidential flagbearer is far ahead of the former Anambra state Governor in everything. Saying that Kwankwaso will serve as Obi’s running mate in the next three years is like relegating him to the background; such speculation does not hold water.
“To those who have listened and clearly understood the interview, what Senator Kwankwaso said was like humiliating Peter Obi, not the opposite.”
It’s worth noting that Peter Obi, a former Governor of Anambra State, was the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 Nigerian presidential election.
Obi’s campaign gained significant support from young voters, with his supporters being referred to as the “Obidients.”
Despite losing the election, Obi’s movement has been described as one of the largest political movements in recent Nigerian history.
