Popular Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele, has emerged the running mate to the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Lagos State, Olajide Adeniran
The actress’ name was included among the six shortlisted names by the Lagos State chapter of the PDP.
She was nominated alongside four other people, whose names are Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, Kolawole Vaughan, Adenike Shobajo and Rasheed Teslim-Balogun.
In a video shared online, the actress was seen in a joyous mood with her supporters and other members of the party at the PDP secretariat in Lagos.

Akindele has been in the news recently largely over her breakup with Abdulrasheed Bello, better known as JJC Skillz.
The actress’ political emergence followed that of her colleague, Tonto Dikeh, who was selected as her party’s 2023 deputy governorship candidate in Rivers State.
