Lagos SDP leader, 15 excos defect to PDP

A few executive members and the chairman of the Social Democratic Party in Lagos State, Miss Dabiraoluwa Adeyinka, have defected to the Peoples Democratic Party.

The choice was made based on individuals who had PDP tickets in the state, according to Adeyinka, who on Monday led roughly 15 other party executives to the main opposition party.

She said that the organization held numerous consultations and took into account the local situation before choosing the PDP.

She claimed that they also gave other party members’ personalities, such as Ms. Funke Akindele, the Lagos PDP’s Deputy Governorship Candidate, consideration.

She noted; ”We are proud of this and find it convincing. We find a lot of attractions in PDP.

“The likes of Funke Akindele are role models for us. She likes us as youths, she is accessible and a young mind, who has impacted the system in Nigeria by creating employment for Nigerian youths.

“She (Akindele) is doing wonderfully well and she is a sellable youth. She is a voice for women and a voice for the Nigerian youths.

“She (Akindele) is motivated even without meeting her in person. We want to join forces with an entity like that,” Adeyinka said.

Adeyinka continued by saying that the PDP’s House of Representatives candidate for the Eti-Osa Federal Constituency, Wellington Bankole (Banky W), was another reason why the group was drawn to the party.

In her words; “Those are people we want to reckon with because for Nigerian youth to be able to speak and make an impact, we have to come together as one force. We need a force to change the status quo.

“We want a Lagos for all, not for a few. We want a Lagos that works for everyone. We want to kill the system of godfatherism that puts our lives in danger.

“We need to find the right direction, we have a torchlight in PDP. Not because it is PDP, but because we have people of like minds like Dr. Abdul-Azeez Adediran and others there.

“We were not paid to do this or under pressure, it is high time for Nigerian youth to get involved.

“We want to be able to elect people into office because they merit it, not because the system puts them there,” she added.

Receiving the defectors at the PDP candidate’s Liberty House in Ikeja, the Lagos State PDP Chairman, Philips Aivoji, commended them for their courage and conviction.

“I appreciate your courage. You have come to the right party. I thank you for identifying with our candidate. What I can assure you is that there is no level you cannot aspire to in PDP.

“We have broken the jinx of godfatherism. Let others rise up and join us and rally around PDP together to rescue Lagos,” he said.Taking in the defectors at the PDP candidate’s Liberty House in Ikeja, the Lagos State PDP Chairman, Philips Aivoji, praised them for their bravery and conviction.

Additionally, Dr. Abdul-Azeez Adediran, a candidate for the Lagos PDP governorship, recognized a similarity in goals between himself and the defectors.

He exhorted them to act quickly to save the state.

Adediran, also known as Jandor, declared his commitment to giving new life to state governance and ensuring that all citizens benefit from the state’s resources rather than just a selected few.

He said, “This is the way to go. It is about time we did it differently so that we can get different results. We need to combine forces together and confront the status quo.”

Adeyinka was designated as one of Adediran’s campaign spokespersons in the state right away.

Some of the excos who left with Adeyinka are Akinbode Oluwamayowa (State Secretary), Mrs. Motunrayo Olajitan (Chairwoman, Alimosho LGA), and Mrs. Perpetual Kamsi (Organising Secretary).

Others are Mrs. Mariam Oba, Mrs. Tolulope Osundeluse, Mrs. Oluwakemi Balogun, Mrs. Michael Egberinde, and Mrs. Tolulope Osundeluse, a woman leader (Youth Leader Alimosho LGA).
