The All Progressives Congress in Imo State has announced August 22, 2024, as the date for its party primary elections, according to State Chairman MacDonald Ebere.
He stated: “We are well prepared to conduct a free and fair exercise… I advise the aspirants to maintain decorum during and after the exercise.”
The party has designated party executive members as automatic delegates for the primary elections. However, there is a growing demand from party faithfuls at the Local Government and Ward levels for all card-carrying members to participate, arguing that this would ensure “equity, fairness, and justice during the primaries.”
State Organizing Secretary Ikechukwu Sunday Umeh urged contestants to engage with their people, saying:
“The exercise will be done in a way that will be acceptable by all… The party has a way of compensating those that did not make it to the main elections… What is more important is for the party to have a successful outing during the main elections.”
