The 2023 governorship candidate of the Labour Party in Lagos State, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, has confidently stated that the party will not only win but take over power in Lagos in 2027.
He made this statement while speaking to newsmen in Umuahia, Abia state capital, where he attended an extended Stakeholders’ meeting of the Labour Party.
Rhodes-Vivour said, “LP is now well structured, not just to win but to take power in 2027. What we have come to do here in Umuahia is to bring everybody on the same page. We are set for new victories in 2027. I believe Labour Party will win Lagos State more convincingly in 2027. Since after the 2023 elections, work has not stopped; we have not gone quiet. Every day, we are getting stronger and stronger. So, we are not just going to win but stand up and take power.”
He criticized the ruling All Progressives Congress for its poor performance, saying it has made it easier for the Labour Party to win in 2027.
He said, “APC has been failing Nigerians for a very long time. It didn’t start today, although things are harder now.”
Rhodes-Vivour praised the LP Leader and 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, Gov. Alex Otti of Abia State, and other stakeholders for their efforts to reposition the party. “The critical stakeholders of LP came here to take an important decision to move the party forward. This is a very good step in the right direction.”
The meeting resulted in the appointment of a 29-member Caretaker Committee headed by Senator Nenadi Usman to reposition the party and conduct a fresh convention in 90 days, resolving the leadership crisis that had engulfed the party.
