Minister advocates implementation of disability laws

Minister for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Betta Edu, has urged state governments and Houses of Assembly to enact and implement disability laws nationwide.

 

Speaking at the 2023 International Day of Persons with Disabilities, she called for improved budget allocation for the Commission for Disabled Persons, stressing President Tinubu’s commitment to inclusivity.

 

Thousands of assistive devices were distributed, showcasing the administration’s dedication to the disability community. Executive Secretary, James Lalu, commended Dr. Edu’s leadership, highlighting her prioritization of the disability community.

 

The event included the launch of the Disability Regulation Law and the inspection of exhibitions by People with Disability. Dignitaries present included Senator Osita Izunaso and Dr. Basheer Dauda.
