The national chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress Abdullahi Ganduje, has explained the reason why he worked for the replacement of Maryam Shetty on the ministerial nominee list of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Ganduje who revealed this while speaking in an interview on Freedom Radio, alleged that Shetty’s name was smuggled into the 19-man ministerial list, claiming that her nomination caused a disorder among Kano residents, who doubted her competency for the job.

According to the former governor of Kano State, Miss Shetty’s competency is questionable, and that is why her name was replaced with Mariya Bunkure’s name.

“But what happened in this case is that we were not consulted. So we just heard her name on air.

“Initially, we didn’t complain, taking into consideration that Mr President has the right to appoint anyone. And as loyalists of the president who understand democracy, we accepted his choice.

“But again, we don’t know her, and since we don’t know her, we can’t vouch for her competency for the job,” he said.

Ganduje however assured that Shetty would be considered for another appointment at a later date while acknowledging the fact that he perfected her name substitution.
