A former presidential aspirant, Kingsley Moghalu, has said that the Muslim-Muslim ticket of the All Progressives Congress is a political calculation and not a declaration of religious war.

Moghalu, who lost the African Democratic Party’s presidential ticket at the primary of recent, said this in a tweet on Friday.

“The APC Muslim-Muslim ticket was intended more as a political calculation than a declaration of ‘religious war,” he wrote.

Controversy has surrounded APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, and his selection of former Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima, as his running mate. The two ex-governors though from different regions are Muslims.

Commenting on the development, Moghalu, who is a former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, said the controversy was as a result of the sensitivity of religion in Nigeria.

He, however, said the decision of Tinubu would be tested at the polls, adding that Nigeria is not the same as the country left behind by Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola in 1993.

Moghalu said, “It is clear that Nigeria’s nationhood trajectory has gone downward rather than upward in the past three decades. Who, or what will be the real ‘unifier’? My answer: a fundamental constitutional re-engineering. #Restructuring.”
