Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has raised alarm over the alleged influx of strange faces into the state, ahead of the Court of Appeal hearing on the governorship election petition in the state on Tuesday.

Sule who stated this while presiding over an expanded security meeting at the Government House on Monday, November 13, 2023, said the influx of the strange faces was already brewing tension in the state, most especially around Keffi Local Government Area of the state.

The governor who appreciated the people and some politicians in the state, for the love, support and tolerance shown during and after the tribunal judgment, called for more restraint ahead of the appeal court hearing.

Premium Politics reported that Governor Sule was declared the winner of the March 18 governorship election in Nasarawa state, by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Meanwhile, David Ombugadu of the Peoples Democratic Party, who was dissatisfied with the tribunal ruling, approached the state election petition tribunal, to challenge the declaration by the INEC, and consequently got the victory of Governor Sule upturned.

However, Sule also filed an appeal challenging the judgement of the governorship election petition tribunal that ruled in favour of Ombugadu, as the true winner of the March 18 governorship election in the state, and the hearing of the appeal has been fixed for Wednesday.

Presiding over the security meeting on Monday, the governor called on his supporters and the people of the state to exercise some measure of restraint, while waiting for the court hearing.

As part of the reasons for the meeting, Governor Sule also expressed willingness to fall back on the working relationship with traditional rulers towards ensuring security at the grassroots.
