The Nasarawa State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has condemned the invasion of its secretariat in Lafia by individuals allegedly affiliated with the All Progressives Congress.
According to The PUNCH, the Chairman of the PDP in the state, Francis Orogu, made this revelation during a press briefing following the party’s state executive council meeting in Lafia on Monday.
Orogu called on security agencies to take immediate action against anyone found causing disruptions under the guise of supporting political parties within the state.
He said, “Recently, some bad elements invaded our party’s secretariat and claimed to be members of the PDP but we have never seen them during any of our party meetings.
“We were informed that they came from Akwanga Local Government Area with a bus while carrying sticks and other items. We do not know their intentions or what they plan to do. We feel that it is a signal that anybody can do anything and claim to be a PDP member.
“We suspect that they could be members of the APC since we do not know their purpose for coming to our office.
“So, we are calling on the security agencies to investigate the matter and arrest anyone who claims to be supporting a political party but going around with the mindset of fomenting trouble.”
As of the time of submitting this report, attempts to contact the state’s APC Publicity Secretary, Douglas Otaru, were unsuccessful because his mobile line was not connecting.
