The lawmaker representing Akwa Ibom Northwest federal constituency at the Nigerian senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, on Sunday, visited the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi.
The former governor of Akwa Ibom, who is among the front-runners, biding for the position of senate president, at the 10th national assembly, went to see the royal father, for royal blessings, ahead of the inauguration of the 10th assembly.
However, the former minister of Niger Delta, went to Ile-Ife, in the company of Barau Jibrin, the senator representing Kano North, and his counterpart from Ebonyi State, David Umahi.
Meanwhile, Umahi was among the senators, eyeing the juicy position of the senate presidency, until Saturday, when he forgone his ambition, to support Akpabio in his bid to clinch the ticket.
The race to choose the leadership of the coming NASS has been very tough, with so many political bigwigs, vying for juicy positions at the 10th assembly.
