A former House of Representatives member, Ned Nwoko, has won the Delta North senatorial district ticket in the primary election conducted on Monday.
Nwoko who is married to popular Nollywood star, Reginal Daniels, is a favoured nominee of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.
The primary election was held amidst tight security at the Cenotaph, Asaba, Delta State capital, according to Vanguard.
With a total of 242 votes, Nwoko defeated his opponent, Mr Paul Oseji, who recorded 66 votes.
Reacting to the win on his Twitter handle on Monday, he said, “Today, I emerged the PDP Flag Bearer for Senate Delta North Senatorial District in the just concluded PDP primaries in Delta State. Thank you all for your support and Well Wishes. I am most grateful.”
Meanwhile, the Chairman of Delta Political Vanguard, Michael Diden, also emerged as the party’s senatorial flagbearer for the Delta South district.
Like Nwoko, Diden is also a favoured nominee of Governor Okowa.
