Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has stated that Nigerians are suffering due to the failure of President Bola Tinubu’s economic policies, which he claimed are causing severe hardship across the country.
Fintiri made this assertion during the meeting of the National Reconciliation Committee of the People’s Democratic Party with governors from the North-East and other key stakeholders in Bauchi on Thursday.
At the meeting, the committee’s chairman, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, emphasized the party’s readiness to address its internal challenges and reposition itself effectively to reclaim power in the 2027 general election.
He said, “The main purpose of the committee is to reach out to the aggrieved members and those having issues, to re-establish a formidable political party in the country.”
Supporting Oyinlola’s remarks, Governor Fintiri described the reconciliation committee as timely, given the ongoing challenges facing the PDP. He also expressed frustration with the current state of the nation’s economy, stressing that leadership is a divine privilege that must be exercised with trust and responsibility.
Fintiri stated, “Nigeria is bleeding. We are suffering, there is too much anger, and the economic policy is not working. That is why we always call on the Federal Government to reconsider some of these economic policies that are only putting hardship on Nigerians. Whatever will make us cry must not be part of your policy because the country belongs to us. It does not belong to the World Bank, IMF, or the international community.”
He urged the Federal Government to prioritize policies that alleviate rather than exacerbate the suffering of Nigerians.
