A human rights activist, Tunji Abayomi, has called for the strengthening of Nigeria’s judiciary system which he stated lacks the strength to give honour to the nation.
Abayomi made this known on TVC on Tuesday while addressing the recent resignation of Justice Muhammad Tanko as the Chief Justice of Nigeria and the need for reform in the judicial sector.
“The management structure of the Judiciary is too weak to give honour to the nation,” Abayomi stated.
He added that the protest of 14 justices of the Supreme Court against Tanko over allegations of their deplorable working conditions drives the immediate need for an urgent reform.
“A nation where the CJN is openly accused of corruption, there is a need for a reform that will be courageously effected, if we are going to have a better Identity for the nation’s Judiciary internally and externally,” he stated.
