The Senator representing Bauchi Central, Abdul Ningi, has resumed his duties in the upper chamber of the National Assembly after a three-month suspension.
Ningi’s suspension was lifted two weeks before its expiration, allowing him to return to his legislative duties.
The senator was suspended in March 2024 due to allegations of budget padding.
However, the Senate Minority Leadership took full responsibility for Ningi’s actions and apologized on his behalf, paving the way for his return, according to Channels TV.
Ningi was seen arriving at the National Assembly premises in Abuja on Tuesday, where he exchanged pleasantries with journalists and colleagues.
His return marks the end of a tumultuous period for the senator and his constituents.
“Members of the press, thank you very much,” the excited lawmaker told them. “I got all your messages.”
When asked if he enjoyed his leave, the senator replied saying: “Very much.”
