The Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers has condemned the lackadaisical attitude of the Federal Government toward finding a lasting solution to the lingering strike of the Academic Staff Union of Universities.
NUPENG also stated its desire to stage a solidarity strike with ASUU if the government fails to end the industrial action which started since February 2022.
In a statement on Monday, NUPENG President, Williams Akporeha, said the union would not hesitate to begin the industrial action, condemning the “lackadaisical attitude of the Federal Government towards finding a lasting solution to the crisis.”
He described the situation as “unfortunate and a sad commentary on the level of governance and sensitivity of political leaders.”
In a related development, the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), on Monday lampooned ASUU for not calling off the strike, saying enough is enough.
