The former governor of Anambra State and presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has denied rumours circulating about his alleged arrest, describing them as “entirely false.”
In a statement shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, Obi reassured his supporters, stating that he is currently at his residence in Onitsha, Anambra State.
The denial follows a series of allegations, including a death threat claim involving Obi and Felix Morka, a prominent member of the ruling All Progressives Congress.
Obi also referred to a similar false rumor from 2024, which falsely suggested he had been arrested by DSS officials while he was actually in Rwanda.
Obi urged his supporters to remain focused on the pressing issues facing the country and not be distracted by baseless rumors.
In response to the ongoing controversy, Morka clarified his earlier remarks, explaining that his comments were a direct reply to Obi being labeled a “voodoo economist” and “prophet of doom.”
Morka also challenged Obi to provide evidence for the alleged death threats against him and his family.
“The recurring fake News on me. I have been made aware of a circulating fake News about my alleged arrest. Let me state unequivocally that these claims are entirely false. I am currently at my home in Onitsha. Anambra State. Such fake News on my person has become a pastime for some people,” he tweeted.
