The Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission has officially announced the date for the upcoming local government elections in the state.
According to a statement released by the commission’s chairman, Babatunde Osibodu, on Tuesday, the elections will take place on Saturday, November 16, 2024.
The commission has also outlined key dates leading up to the elections, including the release of guidelines on August 8, 2024, and the start of political campaigns on August 9, 2024, according to NaijaNews.
Party primaries are scheduled to take place between August 26 and September 9, 2024.
This announcement comes after speculation surrounding the election date, which was previously rumored to be October 26, 2024. The OGSIEC has confirmed that November 16, 2024, is the official date for the local government elections.
