More than 90% of the polling unit results from Saturday’s Ondo State governorship election has been uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission Result Viewing portal as of 6:20 p.m.
According to data from the portal, the latest upload was recorded at 6:18 p.m. By 4:50 p.m., Vanguard’s review showed that 3,543 out of the 3,933 polling unit results had already been submitted.
INEC also reported that 97% of the 3,933 polling units across Ondo’s 203 wards were operational by 8:30 a.m. The remaining 110 units began voting between 8:31 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.
During the election, the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Agboola Ajayi, criticized the process at Kiribo, Ese-Odo Local Government Area. He expressed frustration with the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System, which took over ten minutes to capture his biometric details.
He remarked, “The system is compromised. We’ve received multiple reports of vote buying and BVAS issues. This is a very shameful exercise.”
In contrast, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the All Progressives Congress candidate, commended the election’s organization after voting at Polling Unit 5, Ugbo Ward 4, in Ilaje Local Government Area around 8:50 a.m.
He said, “It’s reassuring to see the exercise going smoothly here, and I hope this is reflective of the experience across the state.”
The high percentage of results uploaded to the IReV portal by evening indicates INEC’s efforts to ensure a transparent and efficient electoral process.
