The Social Democratic Party’s deputy governorship candidate in Ondo State, Mrs. Susan Gbemisola Alabi, has officially joined the ruling All Progressives Congress.
Her decision follows her resignation from the SDP due to irreconcilable differences with the party’s governorship candidate.
Mrs. Alabi’s defection was made public during Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s campaign tour of Akoko North West Local Government Area. Governor Aiyedatiwa, the APC candidate in the November 16 governorship election, welcomed Mrs. Alabi into the APC, according to NaijaNews.
During the event, Governor Aiyedatiwa addressed residents, outlining his administration’s plans for the 2025 budget. He assured that development initiatives would be strategically designed to benefit every region within Ondo State.
Local monarchs, including the Owa of Ogbagi, Oba Olasehinde Ojo Adetona, representing 27 traditional rulers, pledged their support for Governor Aiyedatiwa. They promised a strong voter turnout for the APC.
Governor Aiyedatiwa urged party supporters to remain united and actively participate in securing victory for the APC. He emphasized that his campaign’s tour allowed him to understand the communities’ needs firsthand.
The APC’s focus areas include security, infrastructure, and agriculture. Governor Aiyedatiwa assured residents that their concerns would be reflected in future planning.
This development comes ahead of the November 16 governorship election, with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) having published the final list of candidates.
“The 2025 budget will be well-structured to guarantee that every area of Ondo State benefits from development initiatives,” he said, emphasizing upcoming improvements in infrastructure and services in Akoko North West.
