A former All Progressive Congress’ National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, has won the Edo North Senatorial primary election on Saturday.

Oshiomhole scored 309 votes, outsing his contender Senator Francis Alimikhena who pulled just five votes, despite initially withdrawing from the race.

According to Daily Post, the APC returning officer, Festus Ebia, said 317 delegates were accredited for the election.

“Oshiomhole having scored the majority votes of 309 and satisfied the requirement of the election is hereby declared winner,” he said.

Reacting after his victory, the former Edo State Governor said, “If God gives me the victory in the main election, I will ensure that the voice of Edo North would be loud and clear the same way I did as governor of the state.”

Speaking further, Oshiomhole promised to work with other senators to ensure that the parliament worked in favour of the people.

He urged Alimikhena to find the courage to accept the outcome of the election in good fate as his other contenders did in 2015 and 2019 when he won.
