The candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the rerun-election in Saki West state constituency of Oyo State, Ibrahim Shittu has emerged as winner of the Saturday’s election.
Shittu polled 13,850, votes in the election, defeating his closest rival from the Peoples Democratic Party, Julius Okedoyin, who polled 13,670 votes, and candidates from other political parties.
The rerun held in two polling units, became necessary, following the judgement of the election tribunal, which held that over 1,000 voters were disenfranchised, while the margin of victory between the winner, Shittu and the petitioner, Okedoyin was 270 votes.
It however reversed Shittu’s victory and ordered a rerun-election in the two polling units.
The judgement which was appealed by the APC candidate was also upheld by the Apex Court.
