Governor of Katsina State, Dikko Umar Radda, has directed the distribution of 40,000 bags of rice for residents.
He made this known in a statement issued on Wednesday, stating that these bags of rice were purchased by the N2 billion received from the Federal Government as palliatives for each state to cushion the effect of the fuel subsidy removal.
The Governor stated that measures have been placed to ensure and monitor the distribution process, he also cautioned anyone found wanting by misusing public trust during the distribution exercise, directly or indirectly, adding that they would face the full wrath of the law.
The statement read, “In my capacity as the Governor of Katsina State, I have directed the immediate distribution of 40,000 bags of rice procured by the State Government. The ₦2 billion Palliatives Funds released by the Federal Government of Nigeria were used in purchasing the rice.
“Furthermore, I have also approved the formation of distribution committees at the Local Government and Ward levels. Likewise, I have set up a strong monitoring committee to supervise the distribution processes.
“It’s worth noting that anybody found wanting by misusing public trust during the distribution exercise, directly or indirectly, will face the full wrath of the law.”
