PDP condemns banditry attack in Kebbi

The Peoples Democratic Party in Kebbi State has condemned the bandit attack on Mera Community in the Augie Local Government Area, calling the incident both tragic and shocking.

The party expressed its deep sorrow over the attack, which resulted in the deaths of 15 residents on Friday.

State Chairman, Alhaji Usman Bello Suru, conveyed the party’s condolences to the Kebbi State Government, the Argungu Emirate Council, and the Augie Local Government Council, offering sympathies on behalf of the party’s Working Committee, Party Elders, and the State Working Committee.

In a separate statement, the PDP criticized the state government for what it described as the misuse of public funds on “frivolous foreign trips,” which have reportedly yielded little benefit for the state, according to Channels TV.

The party called on the government to cease such practices and redirect resources toward initiatives that would stimulate local economic growth.

The PDP suggested that instead of seeking foreign financial aid from countries facing their own economic difficulties, the Kebbi State government should focus on creating an environment conducive to sustainable investments. This includes establishing Free Trade Zones, International Border Markets, and revitalizing the Bulasa Industrial Layout.

The party emphasized the importance of fostering long-term economic growth and stability by prioritizing local initiatives that can generate employment opportunities and improve the welfare of Kebbi residents.
