The Zamfara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has dismissed allegations surrounding its involvement in organizing a political rally in Talata Mafara, Zamfara State, providing clarity on its recent activities in the area.
In a statement issued on Friday, the party’s Publicity Secretary, Haliru Andi, rejected the claims, stating that the PDP was not associated with any political rally in Talata Mafara.
He emphasized that the gathering in question did not reflect the party’s position or intentions. “We want to categorically state that the PDP was not involved in any political rally in Talata Mafara and completely dissociates itself from such an event,” Andi said.
Andi further reaffirmed the PDP’s adherence to the state government’s ban on political gatherings, stressing that the party fully respects and complies with the directive. “In line with this commitment, the PDP has also suspended the planned inauguration of its zonal offices across the three senatorial districts,” he added.
The party also urged its members and opposition parties to comply with the ban and refrain from organizing political gatherings in the state during this period.
The statement clarified that a delegation of party officials had traveled to Talata Mafara for two specific purposes. The first was to offer condolences to the Mafara Emirate following a recent gunpowder explosion and an assault in Jangebe town. Secondly, the delegation delivered appointment letters to newly appointed party executives in a private meeting, in line with the party’s internal administrative procedures.
