The Peoples Democratic Party on Thursday, hailed the judgements of the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, upholding the elections of Governor Bala Muhammed of Bauchi State, and that of the Enugu State governor, Peter Mbah, who are both candidates of the PDP in the March 18 governorship elections in the states.
The PDP which described the judgements as commendable and deserving, claimed that is a reflection of the people’s confidence in the party, in both states and the entire country.
However, the main opposition party congratulated their candidates in the two states, for being victorious at the tribunal.
“The judgement of the Governorship Election Petition Tribunals in Bauchi and Enugu States, upholding the victories of our party in both states is commendable and highly deserving.
“This verdict is a reflection of the people’s confidence in our great party in Bauchi and Enugu states and indeed the entire country, Nigeria.
“Congratulations 🎉🎊🍾🎈,” PDP tweeted.
Governor Muhammed who was declared the winner of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission, having polled a total score of 525,280 votes against the 432,272 votes, polled by his closest rival from the All Progressives Congress, Airmarshal Abubakar, won at the tribunal on Wednesday, after the court dismissed Abukar’s petition, seeking the annulment of the election, noting that there was no compelling basis to do so because it was conducted by the law.
Similarly, Governor Mbah won against his opponent from the Peoples Redemption Party, Chris Agu, after the tribunal held that the case of the National Youth Service Corps certificate levelled against him, could only be substantiated if Agu could produce the original copy alongside the alleged forged copy of the document.
