The main opposition Peoples Democratic Party on Thursday, August 31, 2023, marked its 25th anniversary.
PDP made this move through a post on its official X handle on Thursday.
It would be recalled that PDP was the political party, which took over power from the military government when the country returned to civil rule in 1999.
Celebrating the birth of the party on Thursday, the leadership of the PDP, described the party as the political party that allegedly wrestled power from the military government, and returned the country to democracy.
However, the party took time to appreciate the sacrifices of their heroes, while praying that their efforts continue to inspire the younger generations.
“Hurray!
Our Party, the @OfficialPDPNig is 25 today. Let’s roll out the drums and celebrate the sacrifices of the founding leaders of our Party, who fought and wrestled power from the military and returned the country to the path of democracy in 1999.
“May the effort of our heroes continue to inspire the younger generations.
“Happy Anniversary!,” PDP tweeted.
