PDP's Oborevwori defeats Omo-Agege, becomes Delta gov-elect

Delta State Governor-Elect, Sheriff Oborevwori

The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Sheriff Oborevwori, has defeated Nigeria’s Deputy Senate President, Obarisi Ovie Omo-Agege of the All Progressives Congress, to become Delta State’s governor-elect.

The PDP candidate was declared governor-elect by the Independent National Electoral Commission on Monday afternoon after the collation of results in the 25 Local Government Areas was completed.

Oborevwori who will succeed the PDP vice-presidential candidate in the just-concluded presidential election, Ifeanyi Okowa, polled a total of 360,234 votes to emerge victorious.

Omo-Agege who is the senator representing the Delta State Central Senatorial District at the Nigerian senate polled 240, 299 votes to come second.

Meanwhile, the Labour Party candidate, Mr Ken Pela, came third behind, Oborevwori and Omo-Agege after polling 48,047 votes.
