The Katsina State Police Command has announced that movement will be restricted from 6 AM to 4 PM on the day of the Local Government elections to ensure a smooth and peaceful electoral process.
The restriction was disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday by the command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq.
The restrictions, effective on Saturday, February 15, 2025, were communicated by the police command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq. The police explained that the measure is designed to maintain law and order before, during, and after the elections.
During these hours, individuals and vehicles will not be allowed to move freely within the state. The restriction is intended to protect voters and ensure they can cast their ballots without interference.
Authorities urged residents and stakeholders to comply with the movement restrictions to help ensure a peaceful and transparent election. The police also assured that adequate security measures have been put in place to enforce the restrictions and safeguard voters and election officials.
Additionally, eligible voters have been encouraged to participate in the election and do so in a peaceful and orderly manner.
“In light of the upcoming local government election, which is scheduled to take place on Saturday, February 15, 2025, there will be restrictions on the movement of individuals and vehicles from 0600 hrs – 1600 hrs within the state,” the statement read.
“This measure has been put in place to maintain law and order, as well as the security of the electorate to enable them to cast their votes without interference.
“Adequate security arrangements have been made to enforce the restrictions and to ensure the safety of all voters and election officials,” the police commissioner assured.
