Pray, don't trek for me, Kano gov-elect tells supporters

The Kano State Governor-elect, Abba Kabir Yusuf, on Wednesday enjoined his supporters as well as members of the New Nigeria People’s Party to pray for me instead of trekking for him.

According to The PUNCH, Yusuf made the appeal in a statement signed by his spokesperson, Sanusi Tofa.

He stated that he saw the prayers as a display of solidarity and celebration of his election victory last Saturday, rather than kilometers of traveling by some of his supporters in some regions, especially considering the country’s state of insecurity.

The governor-elect thanked the supporters from Kano State and beyond and pleaded with the trekkers to end their journey because it will in no way help to address the plethora of economic and social problems that will face the new administration after it assumes power on May 29, 2023.

The statement read, “the incoming administration will concentrate its time and attention towards a greater future for the people, as well as ensuring security, health, education, economic, infrastructure, and good welfare for the aged, civil servants, and the private sector being the anthem of Engr. Abba led the government.

“As a Kano people-centered Governor, Engr. Abba tasked all hands to be on deck towards ensuring the actualisation of Kwankwasiyya and the NNPP vision for the responsive leadership that works for all in the state.”
